1.2. Expectations of the internship
Through this practice period of about 4 weeks, although not much, but it is a precious time after years of study, I hope it will bring back the goals and plans that I set out as follows;
Firstly, during the time studying at Dai Nam University, most of the students are trained with a variety of knowledge and skills, but most of them are still theoretical. I want to take advantage of this internship to make all of these knowledge and skills more practical in my official job.

2. Internship duration
My internship lasted for nearly 4 weeks, from 31 July, 2020 until 30 August, 2020 (4 weeks). As discussed with my mentors, I was at the office five days per week from Monday to Friday. My work started at 8 A.M and finished at 5 P.M. Spending eight hours per day in work helps me familiarize with the actual environment as a translator.
3. Assigned tasks at internship place
During my internship course in the English Department of SAS center, my main task was a translator.
On the first day of internship, manager introduced staffs, websites, functions and duties of some departments in the company to me, after that we have a meeting together to discuss out my work over there.

The documents I worked on are quite diversified in both type and field such as contracts, investment reports, real estate or even movie subtitiles. After translation process, I used email to send translation results to editors of company. Next, I received some useful feedbacks from the department like word choice mistake, grammar structure, spelling, etc. My supervisor gave me some advices for better translation next time.
In addition, I have translated some of pages of the SAS website, after that I had permission to upload the documents what I did to their company. Then they will check and correct it later.
Next, apart from translating the assigned documents, I also have many opportunities to attend meetings, conferences and seminars between the staffs and foreign representatives from Australia, Korea, the USA, France, etc. I also had a chance to go to the restaurant for dinner with all staffs of the SAS, or travel some places around the south and the north of Vietnam, etc.
After all, I have had an opportunity to work in a perfect environment like the department of Sales or Marketing department with wonderful people. I think I have owed them a lot. If I had to choose once again a place to do my internship, I would still keep my first decision.
4.Favorable conditions and challenges in doing the tasks
4.1. Favorable conditions
For one month working as a translation officer in English department of the SAS, I found many advantages.

This is the department of English language so I have opportunities to contact with many foreigners from many countries. Now, I feel more confident when communicate with foreigners.
Second, the place where I do practicing is not very far from my house, just about 15 minutes by bike, so very convenient for me to come to the department of English and do my internship work.
Furthermore, most of the time working at the department, I was mainly doing the job of a translator, so I have more time to compile my internship report that requires much of translation. At the same time, many of my friends were also doing their internship course in other places and they had to do something different than translation, so they might run out of time to prepare their report. So, I think I have been luckier than them.
Finally, most of the staffs in this company are so jovial and friendly, they are willing to help me whenever I need their supporting.

4.2. Challenges
I just have four weeks for internship course, that time is not enough for me to know all practical aspects in the English Department in SAS, including the difficulties it has to overcome. That is why there are a lot of challenges that I had to face with.
Firstly, my speaking and listening skills were still not very good. Therefore, I was lack of confidence and could not make use of the opportunities to meet and work with foreign specialists and friends. I will try to improve my pronunciation and practice speaking long sentences in a faster and more influent way.

There are many fields that I never had chance to learn and improve my vocabulary about them. Sometimes, strange topics took me quite a bit of time to find the most suitable words to use. There were some works which I didn’t complete well. Sometimes I have not finished the job as I hope. The reasons were that I have not mastered the skills of direct communication with foreigners, had not enough experience, so when I finish my translation documents, I still need manager help me to correct grammar mistakes. I feel sad about that and I promise I will try my best.
One more disadvantage is I’m afraid of talking to people who are too hard to please or impolite. I’m also afraid of coming to terms with their awkward questions. It is difficult for me to remain cool and calm at that time.
As many students who often lack in working experience, I didn’t have a backup plan in case the main one did not work.
5. Basic solutions and general achievements
Although the internship time is about 4 weeks, but not much, it is a valuable time after many years of study, during the practice there are both advantages and difficulties that all students need to overcome through, they will help us improve ourselves day by day.

Reading helped me broaden knowledge in many different fields and also helped me built better number of vocabulary as well as sharpen my word choice for translating.
Being a student of English, I felt lucky that I could get this kind of task. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to practice my specialized knowledge and learn new things relating to. Making bilingual sentences helped me improve my vocabulary on varied topics that I had never knownbefore. I can also review grammars by using sentence patterns that I studied in the past. In addition, my translation skill was practiced much through out the translation Vietnamese sentences into English and viceversa.
I got to know more and more useful websites for my own study through out working on this task. I had chance to visit about hundred studying websites and chose for myself some I found useful.
